The option allows you to pay for tips in advance of your trip to World Youth Day. We are offering an optional collection and distribution service for tips on your behalf. This means you can pay for all your tips ahead of time so you don't have to worry about carrying cash or calculating tips per service during the pilgrimage. The suggested tip amounts per person are below: 

• $5 per day for pilgrimage directors
• $5 per day for local guides

If you decide not to use this optional service, we kindly request you provide tips in cash to the pilgrimage director and local guide. We want you to have the flexibility to choose what works best for you.

CHON JIN AM, MIRINAE SHRINE

Nestled amidst peaceful mountains, the sanctuary of Chon Jin Am is where the Korean Catholic Church was born. Walk through the woods where scholars fell in love with our faith and pray at the burial sites of the fearless founders of the Korean Catholic Church. At Mirinae Shrine, you’ll visit the burial place of St. Andrew Kim Tae-gon, the first Korean Catholic priest. Wander the expansive grounds, pray the stations of the cross, and immerse yourself in the story and legacy of this saint who has become an icon for the Korean Church.

These beautiful, peaceful, shrines speak to the effect that this man’s story continues to have on the lives of the faithful in Korea.

Finally, visit Chon Jin Am, the birthplace of Korean Catholicism, and discover how several passionate young men brought our faith to the Korean peninsula. Hike the same mountains where they studied and prayed, visit their gravesites, and be moved by the unique and hopeful origin story of the Korean Church.

SOLMOE HOLY GROUND, HAEMI INTERNATIONAL SHRINE, HANTI MARTYRS’ SHRINE, GYEONGJU, BUSAN

Traverse the Korean Peninsula and dive deep into culture, history, and faith at some of the country’s most moving shrines and iconic cities. Begin with visits to Solmoe Holy Ground, the birthplace of St. Andrew Kim Tae-gon, and Haemi International Shrine, where the Stations of
the Cross reflect the story of the thousands of unnamed Catholics who were martyred there. Continue on to Hanti Martyrs’ Shrine and learn about the persecution of Korea’s first Catholics while wandering through the stunning mountain landscape.
